Jesu, Joy Of Man’s Desiring for Alto Sax and Piano

Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring is a masterpiece from the library of Johann Sebastian Bach. Originally composed as a chorale for one of his Cantatas, Bach’s well-known melody contains a standard classical theme synonymous with a variety of ceremonial events including weddings, holiday concerts and sacred gatherings to name a few. This best-selling Santorella Publication, originally transcribed for piano by Jonathon Robbins, is arranged for Alto Sax and Piano. There are very few challenging editions of this brilliant masterpiece melody, and this somewhat demanding Robbins edition is not only a recital favorite but a requirement for many state audition lists including NYSSMA. This nicely arranged duet for alto sax and piano is written with the understanding that a wind player must breathe somewhere and is considered in a balanced call and response effect with the dueling pianist.
