Imported Best Use Case For serious, reliable anchoring—resorts, rentals, wind-prone beaches. Can be used for fishing rod, flag poles, and pennant banners too. It works in the back yard or garden too. Light casual use Dual use for umbrellas and surf rods Poolside or easy setups. It requires sand to fill the bag, so unless you want to dig up your yard, it will not work there or at a kids sporting event. Budget, fair-weather, casual users Quality Don’t compare the AugBrella to the cheap imitations. Many of the plastic beach umbrella augers are priced cheaply, but as you know, you get what you pay for. Simply browse some reviews online, and you will soon see how long some of the lesser quality products on the market last. Spike anchors are great in hard packed sand, but they fail in soft sand, and if you smash your finger, it will ruin your day. Performance You can now use what beach rental companies use to secure their umbrellas. There is not a better beach umbrella anchor for loose sand, period. The AugBrella is great for use in your backyard as well. It can be used almost anywhere there is soil. Try us at events such as golf outings, concerts, trade shows, or any other event where you may be looking to plant an umbrella without having a stand in the way or where the ground is uneven. Made in USA Our products are American-made and engineered to last. This AugBrella is 31″ tall and has a military grade auger with stainless steel fasteners. Can be used with umbrellas from .75″ up to 1.6″ diameter poles (Patio Style). Note: Not recommended for hard soils like solid clay or large rock soil.   Don’t let this happen to your umbrella or to you. See this Washington Post story on a flying umbrella. See some of our umbrellas here.   Questions and Answers Q) How deep do I need to place the AugBrella?  A) A little common sense will go a long way here. If you have soft sugar sand and you step in it and your feet squish in, you will likely need to set your anchor deeper to hold your umbrella properly. It also depends on how tall and heavy your umbrellas are. When in doubt, set it deeper. Once your anchor is properly set you should not be able to tug it out of the ground easily. If you can tug it out easily,  you are not set deep enough. Turn it clockwise and set it deeper. They are 30″ long for a reason. The cheap 6″ long box store anchors will not work in 6″ of soft sand. Think about it, they will NOT get deep enough. If you are in hard-packed wet sand you may not need to go as deep, but again, use common sense and the tug method. In hard-packed sand the anchor will create a hydraulic effect, so in many cases, the easier you turn the anchor in easier it will go in the sand. Q) I have a “corkscrew” in the bottom of my umbrella. Will this anchor work with my umbrella? A) NO, but you can remove that cheap corkscrew off of the bottom of the umbrella. You are obviously worried about the cheap umbrella not holding in the wind, so simply drill out the rivet that holds the corkscrew on. Once you drill out the rivet the little tip at the end will pull out. You can always cut it off using a tubing cutter to a hacksaw too. Just make sure you file or sand off any sharp edges. Q) What size umbrellas will the AugBrella work with? A) The AugBrella will hold umbrellas with a pole diameter for about .75″ (3/4″) to 1.6″. Most of the commercial grade umbrellas have a 1-3/8″ to 1-1/2″ pole. Q) Is the Auger tip plastic or metal? A) It is a super plastic. It is actually a glass strand reinforced polycarbonate, which is a super-strong material. It is stronger than cast metal and remains super lightweight. It does not rust, and it is much easier on your foot if you accidentally drop one out of your beach bag.
